Speaking at the farewell function, CJI Ramana said, “We have to accept the fact that pendency is a big challenge before us. I must admit that the issue of listing and posting cases is one of the areas I could not pay much attention to. We were busy extinguishing the fire daily. All the parties have equal contribution in this problem. The only way out is to improve the functioning of the system.”
He said the SC needs to deploy modern tools and employ artificial intelligence to find a permanent solution to this complex problem of delay in listing of new cases, much to the anguish of lawyers.
Justice Lalit said that during his 74-day tenure as CJI, he would work hard to make the process of listing of new cases as simple, effective, quick and transparent as possible. “I will look into the issue and discuss it with my colleagues to come up with a ruling for free mention of urgent matters before the respective benches,” he said.

Sibal, who said on 6 August, “After 50 years of legal practice, I think I have no hope from the institution (SC),” he paid tribute to Justice Ramana’s skill, telling him to secure the boat of the judiciary. Thanks for driving safely. through turbulent times.
But the most dramatic moment came when senior advocate Dave admitted with a stunned voice how he had made a grave mistake in assessing Justice Ramana when he took over as CJI and penned an important article. Singing paean to Justice Ramana, he said, “You have been a true civil judge.”
