Ranveer Singh on working with Rohit Shetty: I feel safest when I work with him

Singh and Shetty worked together for the first time on an advertisement, after which they delivered the 2018 action blockbuster “Simmba”. Their next film is the upcoming comedy “Circus” and the duo recently shot for an ad campaign as well.
The 36-year-old actor said he is always thrilled to work with Shetty as they both have the same goal – to entertain the audience. “I feel safest when I am working with Rohit sir. He is more than a creative collaborator. He is like a brother to me… It is a match made in heaven. It is somehow Let’s have the divine and cosmic power of us together. I hope we continue to entertain the audience together,” Singh said at an event here.
The “Jayeshbhai Jordaar” actor praised Shetty for churning out family entertainment rooted in Indian sensibilities. “When Rohit sir makes something it happens to everyone. It’s a great thing about him as a filmmaker… You can’t tell your kids, grandparents or anyone regardless of their age or gender. without his films to watch and enjoy. His cinema is truly beyond all. Those demographics. He makes it with Indian values and keeping the Indian family audience in mind,” Singh said.
Shetty, who was present at the event, revealed that he is planning to make a sequel to “Simmba” and Singh will be seen in the next installment of “Singham” led by superstar Ajay Devgn.
“He will be seen in ‘Singham’ before ‘Simmba 2’. We also have ‘Circus’ coming up this Christmas,” the director said.
Singh said he hoped to see Shetty and his wife Deepika Padukone Team up for a film again after “Chennai Express” as they both create magic on the screen.
Shetty also praised Padukone and said that “it should be hero-level work” when they collaborate in the future. Singh said that Meenamma from “Chennai Express” is one of Padukone’s favorite performances.
He said, “Deepika is playing such powerful roles that she is shining. I have been telling her that all her films, her facial expressions as Meenamma are something else.
“In the category of an actor, you can do everything, but when you entertain the audience at large, act in that pitch… Both (Deepika and Rohit) together have created a cult character . For me, and I have always said it is also publicly that her best performance is Meenamma.”
The actor, who married Padukone in 2018, said the “Geahriyaan” star has been the best thing about him.
“In 2022, it will be 12 years (for us). The wonderful thing about our relationship is that she continues to amaze me, she continues to amaze me. It’s been four years (since our marriage) but It just always feels so refreshing.
She said, “Sometimes she is sugar, sometimes masala but she is that and everything to me. She is my boyfriend, best friend and the best thing that happened to me.”
