Sub-Inspector Ramesh Chandra, the investigating officer of the case, said that Sagar had used a fake ID in the name of Mickey Sharma to befriend the woman on Facebook and claimed himself to be the son of a Delhi-based diamond merchant. “The accused claimed that his father was a diamond trader in Karol Bagh and wanted to marry her. She claimed that she would live like a queen. In the last five months, he took Rs 6.5 lakh from the woman on various pretexts.
On October 11, Sagar allegedly called the woman to a hotel in Sector 121 and asked her to bring Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of encashing a check of Rs 2 crore issued in her name. Ramesh said, “In the hotel, the accused forced the woman to have sex with him and fled with the money.
As the woman was being blackmailed into paying more money, who filmed the act, she eventually filed a complaint at Gurgaon’s Sector 5 police station, which transferred the case to Noida’s Phase III police station.
Later, the Noida Police filed a case against Sagar under IPC section 376 (rape), 386 (extortion), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (general intent) on the complaint of the woman. Sagar, who earlier worked as a data entry operator in a private company in Sector 62, was arrested on Saturday. “Whether he has implicated other women is not yet known. He has been sent to judicial custody by a court on Saturday,” said sub-inspector Ramesh.
In another case, a Delhi-based woman was allegedly raped at a hotel in Noida’s Sector 15. A zero FIR was registered at New Ashok Nagar police station in Delhi in connection with the matter, following which the investigation was transferred to Sector 20 police. stations in noida
