RapidX train services will have dedicated train attendants for the convenience of passengers

New Delhi [India]Apr 19 (ANI): RapidX train services being implemented by NCRTC will have a dedicated train attendant for the convenience of passengers. RapidX is India’s first regional rail service which is being constructed between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut. It has many special features including a premium class coach in each RapidX train.

An official said that RapidX train attendants will be posted in premium coaches and will provide all travel related information to the passengers. During the journey, the attendant will also brief the passengers regarding the use of safety equipment and desired information related to the journey. The attendant shall assist and attend to the needs of passengers especially the old, sick, specially abled and passengers.

In addition, the Train Attendant shall also assist the Train Operator during operations. In case of emergency, the attendant will help not only the premium coach but also the rest of the passengers of the train.

In case of breakdown or any other emergency, the train attendant shall operate the evacuation equipment fitted on the train as per the instructions of the train operator and assist the passengers to get out of the train by opening the side doors.

Further, if the train stops at the viaduct (bridge) for any technical reason, the train attendant will assist all passengers to alight from the emergency gate on the viaduct and then escort them to the nearest emergency evacuation exit. From there descend to ground level through a safe passage.

The first coach of the RapidX train will be a premium coach. The coach will be equipped with several modern amenities, including reclining seats with comfortable cushions, mobile and laptop charging ports, luggage racks and magazine holders, etc.

To travel in this coach, passengers will have to take entry from the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) installed at the platform level of the station. This is the first time in the country that the double-tap system is being used in a public transport system. All passengers traveling on RapidX trains will first tap their ticket at the AFC located at the concourse level.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will soon start operations ahead of schedule on the 17 km long priority section between Sahibabad to Duhai of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. (ANI)
