Rat found in bread packet ordered from Blinkit, company reacts

Today, for most of us food apps and grocery delivery stores are blessings in disguise. These apps help us to get food and daily essentials delivered at our doorstep, that too without any hassle. But, one person appears to have had a terrifying experience recently. With his orders he found a mouse. You heard us! Let me tell you the story from the beginning. A person named Nitin Arora recently placed an order for a packet of bread on Blinkit. In no time, he received his order; But along with that, came a rodent. According to him, the rat was roaming inside the packet of bread. Sounds disgusting, doesn’t it?

Nitin Arora immediately shared a post on Twitter showing the rodent (in a bread packet) and filed a complaint tagging the instant grocery delivery app blinkit, In the video and photographs, the animal can actually be seen moving around inside the packet. As per the post, the incident took place on February 1, 2023.

The post grabbed the attention of the internet in no time, with people reacting strongly to it.

“Same problem with me. I received rotten item from blinkit and no support from customer service. Then I decided to go to the store from where they ship the order. No wonder if found a rat in a packet The store was a complete mess and full of insects and garbage,” read one comment.

Another person wrote, “They don’t even have time to clean the pack of chips before delivery! Zepto is better now. At least, I’ve never had a problem with them.”

The post also caught the attention of Blinkit. The company immediately apologized for the incident and said that “the concern is genuine”. He further wrote in the comments section, “Hi Nitin, this is not the experience we wanted you to have”, and asked for his contact details and order number for further enquiries.

Dhananjay Sasidharan, Head of Customer Delight at Blinkit, further replied that they have taken the incident seriously and de-listed the partner store.
