Ravi blamed the consultant for the delay in Ponda STP work. Goa News – Times of India

Ponda: Ponda MLA and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik has blamed the consultant for the delay in the completion of Ponda Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Kapileswari on the outskirts of Ponda city.
Naik recently assisted the consultant who failed to do a proper study of the land before starting the drilling work for laying the pipeline. Though the work order for the work was issued in 2016, the project is still pending, he said.
The drain, once the lifeline of Ponda, Kavalem and Bandora, has become a threat to the citizens as pollution levels have increased.
With an aim to clean the drain from such pollutants, Goa’s Sewerage and Infrastructure Development Corporation had planned a 15MLD sewage treatment plant at a cost of Rs 33 crore.
The foundation stone of the plant was laid on February 5, 2016. However, the actual work started in January 2018 after delays due to protests from the local people.
The work of the treatment plant has been entrusted to the Navi Mumbai unit, Khiladi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.
