A senior official said on April 23 that 19 crude bombs were seized from an abandoned auto-rickshaw near a children’s home in Kolkata’s Haridevpur area, prompting the police to investigate whether the explosives were part of a terror conspiracy.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcers conducted raids on the night of April 22 and found three unclaimed auto-rickshaws on a land near a children’s home in 41 Palli area of Haridevpur police station area, he said.
19 crude bombs, one country-made pistol and two live cartridges were found from auto-rickshaws plying on the Chakraberia-Bijoygarh road. We are checking the CCTV footage of the area.
“An investigation is underway to ascertain whether the bombs were part of a terror conspiracy. A search operation has been launched to trace the owner of the auto-rickshaw.” He said that no one has been arrested so far.
