Startups in India: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday (October 11) said that the government is ready to talk to startups who are considering moving abroad and address their issues as much as possible to help them stay in India. can solve.

He told a think-tank here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has worked with startups and the policies of the government have created an enabling environment which has resulted in more than 100 unicorns in India.

“I have connected the Prime Minister with the startups to know what they want from India. And we continued to address their concerns as much as possible. Now as a result, not purely as a result, but because of which, you saw your unicorns coming to reach 100 within the year of 2020 and 2021,” she said in response to a question in the prestigious. “I have heard this from others as well. They (startups) are going to Singapore, they are going to UAE. “So I feel that constant engagement with startups is what will help them stay and perform better in India. But, if there are temptations they want to go all out for, then we need to understand how much entertainment and service we can bring to those courses. All of them are not possible but equally, we can try,” said Sitaraman.

Replying to another question, the Finance Minister said that the Government of India is making special efforts to encourage startups in the Northeast.

“I remember meetings with chief ministers of those sectors regarding startups and IIT Guwahati, in particular, there was a lot of interaction with the industry and encouragement by throwing challenges to come up with solutions for startups. is,” she said.

“As a result, I find this unique in the Northeast, very exclusive to Northeast-type solutions emerging from startups coming up in that region,” he said.
