Recharge your FASTag using WhatsApp by simply sending a message; see details here

New Delhi: It has become a common practice for vehicle owners to recharge FASTag. Banks are developing new and simpler ways to include payment options for the user. IDFC First Bank has partnered with WhatsApp to make FASTag recharge easy on the instant messaging app.

The bank’s customers will be able to reload their FASTag through the new “Payments on WhatsApp” service. IDFC First customers can recharge their FASTag directly through the IDFC First WhatsApp chatbot. You can do the entire recharging process within the chat window.

IDFC First Bank customers can initiate the bank’s official WhatsApp chatbot by saying “Hi” to +919555555555. While choosing the recharge option in WhatsApp chat, customers have to enter the amount and validate the transaction using an OTP. They will then receive a message confirming the transaction.

For lakhs of FASTag customers using the bank, this new feature will enable users to pay for their recharges using “pay on WhatsApp” without having to sign in to any other mobile app or net banking platform.

With Payments on WhatsApp, users can send and receive money from their friends, such as sending WhatsApp messages through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). For each payment, the user has to enter a unique UPI-PIN.

Users can access over 25 services like savings accounts, credit cards, loans and FASTag through IDFC First Bank’s WhatsApp banking channel. The purchase and recharge of FASTags have recently been added to this list of services by the bank.

Nine million FASTags have been distributed by the bank so far. Around 420 toll plazas and 20 parking lots accept payment through FASTag thanks to IDFC First Bank, which holds a 40% market share in processing monthly toll values. With 45 per cent market share, the bank is also the largest parking grabber. Users can now handle payments at HPCL Gas Stations using IDFC FASTag. Around 19,000 HPCL locations accept it.
