Recruitment of school teachers will be done soon in the 7th phase: Education Minister of Bihar

A state in Eastern India Education Minister Chandrashekhar will issue new guidelines for the recruitment of school teachers in the state. These new guidelines are expected to be approved by the government within a month and appointments will be made soon. The education minister confirmed the news through a post on his Twitter handle.

In his tweet, Chandrashekhar announced the early recruitment of teachers in the seventh phase. He stressed that the current year 2023 is the “year of recruitment”. The merit list of eligible candidates will be prepared on the basis of their merit and results of Teacher Eligibility Test under the able guidance of the district administration, according to the tweet. The number of recruitment units will be reduced from 9,000 to just 38 to facilitate hassle-free appointment of teachers in the state.

School teachers were earlier recruited at the panchayat, block and district levels (called units). However, now it will be operated in a centralized manner at the district level itself. Hence, there will be no scope for any malpractices in the recruitment process, said Minister Chandrashekhar.

As per reports, around 1.5 lakh teachers (from primary to +2 level) are expected to be appointed based on the revised guidelines in the seventh phase. The recruitment will start from +2 schools to primary schools. Reports suggest that around 9,362 advanced higher secondary schools in Bihar are facing acute shortage of subject teachers. Therefore, to ensure regular academic activities in these schools, appointments will be made first.

Meanwhile, Amit Vikram, president of the state TET teachers’ association, requested that the draft guidelines prepared by the education department for the recruitment of teachers should be uploaded on the public domain to invite suggestions or comments from all stakeholders. He also said that systematic arrangements should be made to expedite the appointment of teachers on all vacant posts. So that the students do not have to bear the brunt of the shortage of teachers in the schools.

In the midst of the teacher recruitment process, there are reports that the Bihar government has started the process of sacking hundreds of primary school teachers. The state government took this decision because the aspiring teachers could not complete or complete the mandatory training by the extended deadline of October 19, 2022, as per the prescribed minimum qualification mandated under the Right to Education Act.
