England spinner Rehan Ahmed has penned an emotional and heartfelt message for his mother and said that he will always be grateful to her. Ahmed took seven wickets in his debut match in international cricket.

By India Today Web Desk: England spinner Rehan Ahmed wrote an emotional message for his mother and said that he will always be grateful to her after her brilliant start in the third Test against Pakistan.

Ahmed picked up seven wickets against the hosts in Karachi and created history on Monday as he became the youngest player in the history of the game to take a five-wicket haul.

The 18-year-old achieved the feat in the second innings as it set England a target of 167 for victory in Karachi.

england went on to win Test on Tuesday and completed a series whitewash over Pakistan as they continued their revival in the format under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.

Ahmed was named the bowler of the match and shared a heartfelt message on social media for his mother, who was not present at the stadium to watch his debut.

The 18-year-old said that he would not have reached where he is without his mother’s prayers and added that he is forever grateful to her.

“Words can’t express how I feel. Without my mother’s prayers, I would never have reached where I am. I am forever grateful to my mother, who unfortunately could not be here with me However, those prayers are always with me no matter what,” Ahmed said on Twitter.

England captain Ben Stokes too Praised Ahmed for having faith and trust in himself. Stokes said the 18-year-old is not quite done yet, but he is a seriously exciting prospect for the team.

The confidence and belief that he (Rehan Ahmed) has in doing what he does, it’s not a finished article, but it’s seriously exciting for England.”

Stokes said, “I will never forget that cap presentation. That experience in itself was incredible. His father was very emotional and proud and I’m sure his mother would also be incredibly proud at home.”
