Religious enthusiasm, gaiety sign Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: People celebrated the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with religious fervor and gaiety. They offered prayers at their homes here on Wednesday by installing idols of Lord Ganesha, the god of prosperity and knowledge and the destroyer of obstacles. Community pujas were organized at many other places on the occasion.
An impressive festival was organized at the venue of Maharashtra Circle, It started with the religious ritual of ‘Prana Pratishtha’ of the idol of God brought from Mumbai. The form of the idol was a replica of the world famous ‘Lal Bagh ka Raja’. People participated in ‘Pran Pratishtha’ and ‘Aarti’ rituals with chanting of mantras dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and prayed to seek blessings from the Lord for the fulfillment of their wishes.
Secretary of Maharashtra Mandal, Sanjay BhosaleSaid that the idol of the deity has been decorated with a diamond studded crown brought from Mumbai at a cost of Rs 8 lakh with the contribution of its members. Prasad, God’s Choice modak Distributed to the people, was also made by members of Maharashtrian families, thus showing their dedication and enthusiasm for the holy festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, he said.
Bhosale said this year the eco-friendly idol was made from ‘shadu’, clay which has a strong adhesive property and is mostly used for idol molding in Maharashtra and other states. A special traditional program of ‘Turmeric Kumkum’ for women devotees will be organized on 2nd September. The festival will culminate with an impressive procession for the immersion of the idol on 6 September. A 50-member team of artists is adept at playing drums tirelessly. Will come from Mumbai for the last ceremony.”
Although there were around 50,000 Maharashtrians living in different districts of Bihar, people from other states also participated in Ganesh Puja celebrations. Community pujas were organized at many other places on the occasion. A large number of devotees attended a religious program organized in Begusarai. its organizer Sunil Bhau Hundreds of men and women worshiped Lord Ganesha in a festive ceremony organized by the local unit of Maharashtra Mandal.
