Restrictions eased in Hogenakkal

Collector S.Dhivyadharshini on Wednesday lifted the temporary ban on recreational activities of tourists in Hogenakkal.

This action has been taken in view of the decline in inflow flowing into Hogenakkal at Pengaram in Kaveri. In the wake of heavy rains in Karnataka, the water level on Wednesday fell to 8,000 cusecs, indicating a steep fall in the water level that had crossed 20,000 cusecs last week.

Earlier, the district administration had imposed a temporary suspension for tourists taking corral rides, taking a bath in the river and also banned the entry of tourists to Hogenakkal for a view of the waterfall. The ban has been lifted from Wednesday. Simultaneously, after a short interval, the Koracle operation started. With the lifting of the ban, the tourist influx is likely to increase.
