Revised salary of vector-borne disease control persons: West Bengal Congress chief to CM

West Bengal Congress chief and party MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on 17 February urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to revise the salaries of vector-borne disease control persons in the state. 5,250 per month onwards 15,000 per month.

Chowdhary wrote in his letter, “The total number of resource persons in the village is 25,000 (in West Bengal). They are paid a meager amount. 5,250 only per month. they did not get wages @ 5250 for the last three months and fifteen days till date. Please release the salary at the earliest.”

Adding further he wrote, “Given the strenuous nature of the work. May I kindly request you to revise his salary 15,000 per month so that they can lead a good life. This vector-borne disease control can go a long way in alleviating the hardship of the individuals and they would be able to meet the basic needs required for their dignified existence.”

According to the World Health Organization, vector-borne diseases are human diseases caused by parasites, viruses, and bacteria that are transmitted by vectors.
