Britain’s newly-appointed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shared Diwali greetings from his 10 Downing Street residence on Wednesday. The country’s first Indian-origin Prime Minister Mr. Sunak was attending the Diwali reception at the official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Extending Diwali greetings, Mr Sunak also vowed to build a Britain where “our children and grandchildren can shine their light”. diyas,

“Great to be at tonight’s Diwali reception at No. 10. I will do everything possible in this work to create a Britain where our children and our grandchildren can light their lamps and look to the future with hope. Happy Diwali to all!” He tweeted sharing a picture of himself at the reception.

A day after being elected the new leader of the Conservative Party in a historic leadership race, the 42-year-old devout Hindu formally took over as Britain’s prime minister after an audience with King Charles III on Tuesday.

The investment banker-turned-politician is the youngest British Prime Minister in 210 years.
