Rohan Bopanna had the best reply to a viral post, saying that his wife is the ‘most beautiful woman’.

Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza, playing their last Grand Slam match, lost to Brazilian pair Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos in the mixed doubles final at the Rod Laver Arena on Friday.

Sania and Bopanna were defeated 7–6(2), 6–2 by Brazilians Stefani and Matos, playing in their first Grand Slam final.

After the match, a social media user shared a picture of Bopanna’s wife Supriya Annayya on Twitter, describing her as the ‘most beautiful woman’.

Sharing the viral tweet, Bopanna said: “I agree”.

In her last major, the 36-year-old Sania admitted that her emotions almost boiled over after the Indian defeated third seeds and Wimbledon champions Desirea Krawczyk and Neil Skupski in the semi-finals. There was no stopping him after their final match at Melbourne Park, 22 years after first pairing with Bopanna.

Interestingly, Sania won her first major at Melbourne Park in 2009 when she paired with Mahesh Bhupathi. And he ended his illustrious Grand Slam career here.

Melbourne Park has been a happy hunting ground for the Indian star. After his first win in 2009. Seven years later, in 2016, she teamed up with Swiss star Martina Hingis and claimed the top-seeded women’s doubles title.

Outside Australia, she earned four other Grand Slam titles: 2015 Wimbledon and 2015 US Open women’s doubles with Hingis, 2012 Roland Garros mixed doubles with Bhupathi and 2014 US Open mixed doubles with Bruno Soares.

“The journey of my professional career began in Melbourne in 2005 when I played against Serena Williams in the third round at the age of 18,” said an emotional Sania.

Bopanna was looking to add a second Grand Slam mixed doubles title after his 2017 Roland Garros triumph. Despite coming up short, he paid tribute to his compatriot and friend.

“Playing with Sania is really special for me,” he said.

“Today we got to play our last match here at Rod Laver Arena. Unfortunately, we could not clinch the title, but for Indian tennis, thank you very much for your time in motivating everyone.”
