The filmmaker said, ‘If I ask you one question – Jayakant Shikre (the antagonist in Singham, essayed by Prakash Raj) was a Hindu, then came to this universe (Rohit Shetty’s cop universe which includes Singham, Singham Returns, and Simba), a Hindu Godman who was the villain. In simbaDurva Yashwant Ranade (played by Sonu Sood) was a Maharashtrian. The negative forces in these three films were Hindus. Why was this not a problem?’ Talking about the plot of the film, he further said, ‘If there is a terrorist who is from Pakistan, what caste would he belong to? We are not talking about caste. There is an idea with which a film is made. We never thought so. Why is this being discussed? If we have sleeper cell then what species will the sleeper cell be? Why is a bad and a good person being associated with caste, when as creators we never thought about it? If it was wrong, everyone would talk about it… some people are talking, it’s their point of view that needs to be changed, not us.’ Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’, which is still going strong at the box office, is the story of a group of terrorists planning attacks in Mumbai. While Jackie Shroff plays the antagonist Umar Hafeez in the film, Akshay Kumar’s character has come together in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bajirao Singham’ and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ to stop the attacks.
