‘Rorschach’ movie review: Mammootty’s psychological thriller is interesting but incomplete

cast characters Rorschach Through the Rorschach test, studying their personality traits and mental makeup can be a fascinating exercise, as some of them have some twisted nodes in their brains. Although on the surface, Luke Antony (Mammootty) is clearly neurotic, having visions and battles against imaginary enemies. The man’s arrival in a village bordering the forest is shrouded in mystery, compounded only by his actions.

Luke walks into the police station and reports that his wife has gone missing after their car crashes near the woods. But, as the search operation progresses, doubts arise as to whether the woman has actually gone missing or is it her imagination. It also reinforces the feeling that the wealthy Dubai man had arrived in this un-described village with other intentions in mind.

Story: Luke Anthony is on a mission to take revenge on someone who has deeply destroyed him.

Director Nissam Bashir, who debuted with kettiolanu ante malakhaMakes good use of the mystery surrounding Luke and his actions, to advance a plot that delves into some unfamiliar territory. But Sameer Abdul’s script is not limited to Luke alone. It flows through a group of characters, who all have their own intentions, from a man who senses an opportunity and uses it when he sees the rich man on an extended stay in search of his wife. Sujatha (Grace Antony), who dreams of a stake in policeman Pai when he discovers some suspicious behavior, and Sujata (Grace Antony), who has a great ability for self-preservation.

Halfway through, when the picture is clear, things are not as they seem. We get clues about Luke’s mental state. But for someone who has suffered the torture of the white room that causes disorientation and loss of personal identity, he never deviates from his goal. Sameer’s screenplay is woven around a revenge story, but the weave is so clever and novel that the revenge part is hidden under some interesting layers.

The film slows down a bit after Luke’s intentions are revealed, with some repeating scenes; A stricter treatment could have made this a more powerful film. The music of Midhun Mukundan matches well with the eerie atmosphere prevailing in the film. Later puzhuMammootty has again chosen an unconventional script, which gives him ample opportunities to perform. But in the end, Bindu Panicker as Sita, who walks away with much applause with her dangerous portrayal of a mother who will go to any extent to protect her sons and their name.

Rorschach An effective psychological thriller that has its flaws, just like the test gets its name, but it’s an interesting experience nonetheless.
