New Delhi:

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday said Russia and China were the two countries that did not support the issuance of a joint statement at the G-20 foreign minister’s meeting hosted by India. The meeting ended without issuing a joint statement, despite India’s efforts to distance it abroad, as both countries objected to the mention of Russia’s attacks.

“Russia and China are the only countries that have made it clear that they will not sign,” Blinken said at a press conference.

Blinken said the meeting adopted an outcome document that reflected the consensus of all foreign ministers on a range of subjects. He said that America will support Ukraine.

Referring to the statements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the video message at the G-20 meeting, the US Secretary of State said that he is right that he will be in a multilateral system.

Blinken said, “In many ways it is coming directly from Russia, which is violating the principles that are at the heart of this system.” Blinken didn’t give a straight answer.

Blinken also reported that he spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and urged him to implement his decision to implement the New Beginning treaty.
