Sumati Kumari had a chance to take the lead in the seventh minute when she was played in by Neetu Linda, but Bangladesh keeper Rupna Chakma made a brilliant save. Chakma were again called into action around a quarter of an hour when Sunita Munda headed in a Shubhangi Singh cross. Shubhangi was accurate with her set pieces and thought she had helped India take the lead at the half-hour mark when Kajol tipped the ball, but the referee deemed the ball out of play before turning Went.

Bangladesh had a rare effort when, with minutes to go before the half-time whistle, Shaheda let one fly over from long range, but it went into the roof of the net. India head coach Memol Rocky played his hand at half-time, bringing on Neha in place of Sumati Kumari. The midfield scrum thickened in the second half, but Cajole was able to have a shot on target with a long-range free-kick, which was duly saved by Chakma.

The Bangladesh custodian struck again a few minutes later when Neha broke into the box from the left flank and tried to deliver a dangerous cross to Aparna Narzari, but Chakma fired it out of the air. This was the last action for Narzari, who was soon replaced by Linda Com Serto.

Neha had a golden chance in the second half when Munda fired her from the right, but the ball took an awkward bounce off the artificial turf and went out of play.

Anita Kumari, Tania Kanti, and Babina Lisham were soon fielded with the clock ticking down, but both the sides remained tied till the end.
