Salesforce offers to help move employees out of Texas after abortion law

After a restrictive abortion law was passed in the conservative US state, IT giant Salesforce has offered to help relocate its employees working in Texas.

“We’ll help you move out of TX if you want to relocate,” Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said in a tweet on Friday.

The law, which bans abortions after six weeks, has sparked outrage among women’s rights activists and Democrats, and the Biden administration is looking for legal ways to stop it.

Salesforce, a San Francisco-based software company, told its employees that it respects “we all have profound and different perspectives,” according to an internal note cited by CNBC.

“That being said, if you have concerns about access to reproductive healthcare in your state, Salesforce will help you and your immediate family members move,” the memo read.

Texas law, passed this month, bans abortions once a heartbeat is detected before many women even know they are pregnant — except in a medical emergency.

Other tech companies have also taken action in response to the law. Online dating giant Bumble & Match Group, headquartered in Texas, announced that they will be creating funds to support women.

The new law encourages Texans to report everyone involved in illegal abortions, including those who take a woman to a clinic to receive the procedure. In response, car-sharing companies Uber and Lyft have announced that they will cover drivers’ legal fees if they are exposed.
