Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that he will contest next year’s assembly elections in the state.

In an exclusive conversation with India TV, the former chief minister said, “He will contest the UP assembly elections next year… If the party takes a decision on it, we will announce it very soon.”

The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief said that if his party comes to power, he will make big announcements for the betterment of farmers, youth in the state.

Akhilesh Yadav said, ‘Give big relief in electricity bills.

Speaking on alliances with other parties in the upcoming elections, Akhilesh Yadav said that his party will not forge alliances with big parties but may forge alliances with smaller parties. Will also bring Shivpal Singh Yadav along.

As elections in Uttar Pradesh approach, though a schedule is yet to be announced by the Election Commission, Akhilesh Yadav is targeting the BJP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the state.

On Tuesday, he underestimated the construction of the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, which was inaugurated by PM Modi after PM Modi said the highway was constructed during the SP government.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had said that he would not contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
