Samajwadi Party leader withdraws election petition against BJP MP Sanghamitra Maurya

Maurya, daughter of Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, had contested the 2019 general election from Badaun on a BJP ticket.

Samajwadi Party leader Dharmendra Yadav has said that he has withdrawn his election petition filed before the Allahabad High Court against sitting MP Sanghamitra Maurya, alleging wrong information in his election affidavit. Maurya, daughter of Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, contested the 2019 general election from Badaun on a BJP ticket.

He won the election from this seat by defeating the then MP Dharmendra Yadav by a margin of 18,000 votes. Dharmendra Yadav is the cousin of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

After the conclusion of the 2019 general election, Dharmendra Yadav filed a petition stating that some of the information given by Sanghamitra Maurya in his election affidavit was incorrect.

He had also alleged fraud in voting in his petition and accused the election officials of not being impartial. Dharmendra Yadav told on Saturday.
