Samantha Ruth Prabhu diagnosed with myositis: All you need to know about the disease

Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed in a new post that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis, and has been undergoing treatment for it for a few months now. She further revealed that her autoimmune condition is taking a while to recover. Sharing her health update, Samantha wrote, “Doctors are confident that I will make a full recovery very soon.”

An Instagram post showed a picture of him in a hospital room. Her note read, “Your response to Yashodha trailer was overwhelming. It is the love and connection that I share with all of you, that gives me the strength to tackle the endless challenges I face in life. A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis. I was looking forward to sharing this once it goes into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I expected. I am slowly realizing that we do not always need to build a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something I’m still struggling with. Doctors are confident that I will make a full recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. And even when it seems like I can’t handle another day of it, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery. I love you.. this too shall pass”

What is myositis?

Myositis, the condition in which Samantha has been diagnosed, refers to not one, but a group of rare conditions. This is a condition that forces your immune system to attack the muscles. This disease can be caused by one or more of several conditions that cause inflammation in the muscles. The main symptoms are muscle pain and weakness, which get worse over time. A person may also travel or fall a lot or feel tired even after walking.

According to WebMD, inflammatory conditions such as dermatomyositis, polymyositis, and inclusion body myositis can cause severe myositis. Lupus, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis can also cause this condition. Viral infections with certain drugs, medications and severe physical injury can also lead to this condition.

In addition to weakness, other symptoms usually include rash, fatigue, thickening of the skin on the hands, difficulty swallowing and breathing, as well as weak, aching, or aching muscles. Symptoms usually get worse over time.
