Samsung showed off 4 futuristic foldable displays at CES 2022

Samsung showed off four foldable display technologies at CES 2022, including three new panels that could feature in smartphones, and one display that could be used in foldable laptops. The company already sells popular foldable handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which compete with the offerings from Motorola and Oppo. The company revealed its Flex S, Flex G, and Flex slideable panels along with the Flex Note panels could make their way to keyboard-less laptops with foldable displays, along with the Flex Note panels. However, Samsung has yet to reveal any plans to convert these concept devices into retail products.

The South Korean company showcased its Flex Note panel at CES 2022, a concept for a laptop with a single, continuous display that replaces a physical keyboard. report good by Sammobile. According to the report, users will be able to take advantage of the extra screen real estate while consuming media and other content while having access to the touch keyboard and other input options like a smartphone screen.

Samsung’s The Flex S and Flex G concept panels are named after the way they appeared. This means that the Flex S Fold comes with three panels that fold outwards into a bigger screen. It is worth noting that while the Flex S panel offers a large display with a compact form factor, the two display panels are on the outside which can expose it to scratches and damage. Samsung’s Flex G concept is designed to alleviate that problem – it also has three foldable panels, but which fold inwards instead of outwards.

The company showcased its fourth foldable display technology, called Flex Slidable, at CES 2022. It has a familiar design that resembles the Oppo X2021 smartphone. The Flex slideable panel was featured in a concept handset, featuring a sliding display that rolls out for additional screen space. While this can be used to expand the field of view for content, Samsung’s video suggests a set of shortcuts, similar to the swipeable shortcuts panel found on its One UI Android skin.
