Sania Mirza advises RCB on mental aspects of the game ahead of WPL match: Watch

As the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League kicks off at the DY Patil Sports Stadium on Saturday, other female athletes are also showing their support for the domestic women’s cricket league. Tennis star Sania Mirza is helping Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players deal with the mental aspect of the game.

RCB will play their first match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday and the Smriti Mandhana-led side got some words of wisdom from Sania Mirza ahead of the crucial match.

“Sania Mirza spent quality time with the RCB girls, gave them advice on how to deal with pressure, shut out outside noise, and made it clear that they can come to her for help anytime! We are lucky to have you with us,” said RCB while sharing the video of Mirza’s interaction with the players.

Sania shared that she was considering her next step after retirement and what better way than to help women athletes with the mental aspects of the game. She said that apart from the game, media attention, photoshoots and being in an individual sport, there is a lot to come, she has faced it all and can definitely help players deal with the pressure.

When asked about retirement, Sania said that last year was difficult for her, she had to undergo several surgeries and finally, she took the decision.

WPL is seen as a significant achievement when it comes to women Cricket Several senior players in India have expressed that the tournament could be a game-changer for women’s cricket in India and the world.

In the first match of the season on Saturday, Gujarat Giants take on Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

WPL will have 20 league matches and 2 playoffs which will be held in a span of 23 days. Around 87 players from 7 countries are participating in the inaugural season of the tournament.
