Sanjay Leela Bhansali to recreate Lahore in Film City for ‘Hiramandi’? – times of India

Sanjay Leela Bhansali will recreate Lahore From the pre-Partition era for his upcoming show ‘Hiramandi’ at a Film City studio in Mumbai. Bhansali is in his final stages of casting and is planning to shoot for the show from the month of November. Will also be seen in SLB’s new web series Manisha Koirala Working with the director after 25 years.

Manisha Koirala will be one of the main leads of the period web series. The two worked together in 1996’s ‘Khamoshi’, which was a hugely acclaimed film.

The other names that are doing the rounds for this show are: Aditi Rao Hydari And Sonakshi Sinha. The story is set in Lahore and tells us the story of three generations of Tawaifs. Written by Moin Baig and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the casting of a lot of characters is still going on. The show will feature Subrata Chakraborty who was the art director of ‘Padmaavat’ who will also design the sets for ‘Hiramandi’.

SLB was earlier planning to make it as a film and reportedly offered Priyanka Chopra To play the lead role, which she turned down citing date issues. Some other names that were being speculated to be involved in the project were: Madhuri Dixit, Rekha, Tabu and Shabana Azmi, very.

The show will explore the tales of tawaifs and the hidden cultural reality of Hira Mandi, a dazzling district during pre-independence India. It is a series about love, betrayal, succession and politics in Kothon that promises larger-than-life sets, multi-faceted characters and soulful compositions, the trademark of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
