India’s wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson has shared a major update regarding his fitness. The batsman, who got injured earlier this month, is out of the Indian team. Samson suffered a knee injury during the first T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka and took care of his damaged knee at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, the 28-year-old has given a major update on his fitness.

Taking to social media, Samson announced that he is “all set and ready to go” as he has been declared fit. The 28-year-old dived to take a catch while chasing Sri Lanka’s target in the first T20I. He could not complete the catch and injured his knee. The BCCI had replaced Samson with uncapped wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

Is Samson’s comeback on the cards?

Sanju Samson has been coming and going in the Indian team. He hasn’t featured in many ODIs and T20Is for India and is yet to cement his place in the team which is already facing healthy competition from a number of players. There is no official statement from the BCCI whether Samson will be selected in the team for the remaining two matches against New Zealand. Notably, after the ongoing series, India will play Australia in a four-match Test series, followed by a three-match ODI series at home. The team is out for the first two Tests but India is yet to finalize its players for the remaining matches.

taking into account the fact that KL Rahul And with Shreyas Iyer being India’s first-choice middle-order batsman in ODIs, Samson’s India return to ODIs could be delayed. But the Indian star might feature in the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies, scheduled for July 2023. However, he may soon be seen in action in the Indian Premier League 2023, where he leads the Rajasthan Royals. Samson takes the Royals to the final IPL 2022, only to go down in the summit clash against Gujarat Titans.
