Star Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the French Open Super 750 crown by defeating Chinese Taipei’s Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han in straight games in the men’s doubles final in Paris on Sunday. The world number 8 pair, who finished runners-up in the 2019 edition, rode their formidable attack to beat 25th-ranked Lu and Yang 21-13, 21-19 in a 48-minute summit clash. The Indian pair thus continued their dream this year, which saw them win the Indian Open Super 500 title, Commonwealth Games gold, Thomas Cup crown and an unprecedented bronze at the World Championships in August.
This is the pair’s third World Tour title this year after the 2019 Thailand Open Super 500 and India Open Super 500. They are also the first Indian pair to win the Super 750 tournament.
In a battle between two attacking teams, Satwik and Chirag emerged victorious as they showed superior tactical skills and hunger to reign supreme over their rivals.
The Indian pair went out on all cylinders to take a 5-0 lead. He kept on moving without giving his opponent any chance to make a comeback.
After all, it was a brilliant serve by Satwik that helped him take a six-point cushion at the midgame break.
The Indian pair dominated the fast-paced rallies and earned seven game point opportunities after a series of flat exchanges, and Chirag sealed it at the first opportunity.
The Taipei pair needed a good start in the second game and looked competitive initially, but the Indian pair once again ensured a six-point cushion at the interval.
However, the Indians blamed the foot off the pedal as Lu and Yang began to take control of the rallies, narrowing it down to 10-12.
A service error from Lu Ching Yao broke the points race, but they soon leveled at 14–14 when the lamp went on for a long time. A few mistakes from Chirag, including a service error, gave the Taipei combination the lead.

However, the Indians made a quick 19-19 comeback after a lucky net cord and Yang sent a wide off the net.
They went to a match point with a huge smash from Satwik, which sealed it with another attacking comeback.
