Savor authentic coastal cuisine at Sana-di-gai, Delhi

When we talk about coastal food, people automatically assume we are talking about seafood and coconut. Why not? The impression is not out of place. Although it may sound hard to believe, India’s coastal cuisine appears to be meat and seafood heavy due to the natural abundance! If you enjoy coastal food but have a hard time eating it in Delhi, don’t worry! We have found a home for all of you. We recently visited Sana-di-Gay restaurant in Delhi to sample authentic coastal cuisine and guess what? We had loads of options. Selecting only a few dishes from the menu was challenging as there were so many options. We asked the chef for assistance with that cause.

Ambience

Sana-Di-Gay Delhi is spread over three floors and is located in one of the greenest areas of Delhi- Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri, with a hydraulic lift that takes you from one floor to the next. Everything, from the seating to the wall to the lighting, gives us an authentic coastal vibe.

Meal

For an authentic Dakshina Kannada dining experience, food is served on brass plates with banana leaves. We started our tasting session with Paneer Varuval, Lotus Stem Kalimirchi and Prawns Butter Pepper Garlic. All these dishes were a perfect start to the tasting session. The Shrimp Butter Garlic is one we highly recommend. A special mention to the refreshing drinks too – Sol Kadhi, Ilanir Shunti Neembe Hanu and Sambharam.

In Mains, we would definitely recommend going for the Rashi pomfret which was flavored to perfection. It was covered with banana leaf which gave a really authentic look to the whole dish. In the next round, we ordered Stuffed Kurle, Kori Ghee Roast and Mutton Sukka.

Out of these three, we would recommend you to try Kori Ghee Roast. It is a delicious combination of chicken toss in spices and desi ghee. Trust us, this is one dish that anyone can eat endlessly! Finally, we ended our culinary journey with Eleanor Payasam.

So, next time you want to taste authentic coastal cuisine, this place is a must try!
