has already been a part of evil eye For Audible Suno, Sayani is now gearing up for its latest release with the same platform – mine and yours – A modern love triangle where she plays a bisexual woman who explores and introspects questions related to sexuality and strangeness. Ahead of the release of the second season of the series, which also stars Nakuul Mehta and Kubra Sait, Sayani talks to us about what to expect from the intriguing project.

How did you prepare for this role? Did it include any research that spoke to people from the LGBTQIA+ community?

To be honest, the preparation was very light. The character is not too complicated; She is a regular person and she just happens to be bisexual. (Smile)

However, I did a lot of research earlier when I played Khanum Margarita with a Straw. Part of my workshop was then talking to people from the LGBTQIA+ community; I also visited a bunch of gay bars and pubs in New York to better see and understand the culture. I’m a collaborator, and some of my closest friends are from the community, so I can empathize with the character. Since it is a very well written script and a great role, I just had to be honest with my lines.

How different is the script of an audio show compared to a traditional TV show/movie?

The script is not that different, but the screenplay is definitely there. But since I had already done a show for Audible, it was not that difficult to adapt. Even as a kid I dabbled in a lot of thingsHriti Drama… Which literally means ‘audio show’. That experience helped me too, because the syntax is the same.

What can people expect from your character and the show in general?

The personalities of the characters are very distinctive and distinct, and there is a lot of drama and comedy. The character of Nakul’s friend is also super funny. I want people to see it because we’ve done some really cool voice-work, if I may say so myself. (laughs)

How was it working with your fellow actors?

I had worked with Nakul in the past, whereas Kubbra and I have known each other for a long time. So it was time to hang out with friends! Keeping this in mind during the pandemic, we mostly stuck to doing Zoom readings.

sane recording for the show

Generally speaking, recording for audio shows or even dubbing for that matter is a very lonely experience. but while recording mine and yours, the three of us were put in a room; It helped us play with each other’s energy, and made the whole experience very interactive and exciting. The sound design makes it even better; It really feels like the story is happening around you.

Do you see yourself working on audio shows or podcasts again in the near future? Does this type of format have a future in India?

Definitely! India has a very old tradition of audio shows: radio dramas. In fact, my father used to work for All India Radio, so I was brought up in radio shows. Audible has embraced that age-old tradition and married it with technology, so that people can easily access and consume this type of content in today’s day and age.

I actually still remember the voices of people from radio shows that I used to listen to as a child. It’s a different kind of sensory experience, and still a beautiful one.

What future projects are you working on?

I’m currently shooting for the next season four more shots please! I rarely get excited about my projects, but I am very excited for this season and for everyone to see it. Too, inside edge Season three is due out soon, and some of my films are in post-production.

Season 2 of Mine and Yours is currently available on Audible
