In a way, students can take advantage of less holidays in November by covering their syllabus in all subjects. If most of the syllabus is completed, kids will be able to spend their winter vacations in fun activities and not just preparing for exams.

Overview of two public holidays

Guru Nanak Jayanti: It is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev. The festival is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, which is the fifteenth lunar day of the month of Kartik according to the Hindu calendar, and usually falls in November according to the Gregorian calendar.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day: Every year on 24 November, people across the country celebrate Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs Day to honor the ninth Guru of Sikhism, who was the epitome of humility. He crossed all caste, creed, race, religion and gender barriers. Guru Tegh Bahadur was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind. On this day in April 1675, Guru Tegh Bahadur was publicly executed on the orders of Aurangzeb for protesting religious persecution.
