Schools, Colleges closed in THIS Karnataka district due to excessive rains

Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Mulai Mugilan has announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodbidri and Bantwal areas owing to excessive rains.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has on Sunday issued an ‘extremely heavy rainfall’ warning over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka on July 4. Moreover, the weather office also issued isolated heavy to heavy rainfall over South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka till 6 July.

Heavy rains have been pouring all over South India leading to many areas being inundated. Earlier, Kerala government had declared a holiday in all the state government-run education institutions owing to heavy rainfall prediction by the IMD in Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts. 

The weathermen have predicted light to moderate intensity rainfall in South India during the next 5 days while heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in the next 5 days. IMD also predicted isolated extremely heavy rainfall at various places in Kerala on July 4. and July 5.
