Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Kochi around 5 pm on Monday evening on his two-day visit to Kerala.

He will hold a roadshow from Venduruthy Bridge to the Sacred Heart College Ground near the Naval Base before addressing a youth gathering at 6 pm. State BJP leaders will participate in the roadshow. Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan inspected the venue on Sunday.

The cultural program will begin on Monday at 3.30 pm in the college grounds. BJP leaders expect around one lakh party workers and youths from Ernakulam and neighboring districts to attend the meeting.

After the program, Shri Modi will leave for Hotel Taj Malabar, where he will meet some Christian religious leaders. He will leave for Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, where he will launch a series of transport and infrastructure projects.

Security has been tightened in Kochi ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, especially in view of the threat perception. District police chief (Kochi city) K. Sethuraman said here on Sunday that 2,000 police personnel would be deployed under half a dozen superintendents of police.
