Actor-singer Selena Gomez is in talks with 20th Century Studios to develop a reboot of the 1988 comedy film “Working Girl.”

Disney+ series “Diary of a Future President” producer Lana Pea is making changes to the film’s script.

According to entertainment site Variety, the makers are planning to release the film on the streaming platform Hulu. As of now no director is associated with the project.

It’s still unclear whether Gomez will star in the “Working Girl” remake in addition to serving as a producer.

The origin story follows an ambitious 30-something Staten Island secretary who takes over the operations of the office while his boss is recovering from a broken leg. But when the secretary presents a winning idea, his boss tries to take credit.

The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over US$100 million at the global box office. It received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nicholas.

The “Working Girl” reboot will mark Gomez’s second collaboration with Hulu after the comedy series “Only Murders in the Building.” She produced the series and also starred in it alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short.
