A report published by Marca claimed that Sergio Aguero himself shared an audio from his cardiologist stating that the Manchester City legend could very well return to the football pitch again.

In a fresh turn of events, former Barcelona and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is being speculated to return to competitive football soon.

After capping off an illustrious career at Manchester City, the Argentine switched to Barcelona in 2021. But Aguero’s stay at Barcelona did not turn out to be a memorable one. His career came to an abrupt end in 2021 having suffered cardiac arrhythmia.

Aguero recently opened up on the speculations about his return to the field. “And if Carlitos (Tevez) calls me, what do you want me to do? I have to talk to the cardiologist. Play for 20 minutes. Shall we send a message to the cardiologist to see what he says,” several media reports quoted the Manchester City’s all-time top scorer as saying.

A report published by Marca claimed that Sergio Aguero himself shared an audio from his cardiologist stating that the Manchester City legend could very well return to the football pitch again.

“The way things are going so far, you won’t have any problem playing at some point. Logically we have to do the tests and make you run as if it were a game. And it’s true, when you have the two central defenders… you have to make a fake or something like that, you have to be well prepared. So I would say… get ready, there is some hope,” the cardiologist told Aguero, as per Marca.

“We can say that you’re doing very well and that you have to get in good enough shape to be there for a few minutes. But I see you looking good, you’re doing everything and you didn’t have anything [problem]. We’re going to monitor you a little bit more. In short… It’s possible, yes it’s possible. You are doing very well,” the cardiologist added.

Following his health ailment, Sergio Aguero has made some casual appearances as part of Gerard Pique’s seven-a-side Kings League. Aguero experienced chest pain 41 minutes into his first start for Barcelona during a game against Alaves in 2021. He even required on-pitch medical attention before half time. Aguero was asked to rest and the 35-year-old eventually decided to announce his retirement from professional football. Aguero announced his retirement in a press conference in December 2021.
