SFI members stopped for removing wood from Maharaja College premises

Members of the Students Federation of India (SFI) unit of Maharaja College on Sunday stopped a wooden truck from being removed from felled trees on the campus.

Maharaja’s SFI unit president K. According to Raju, a lorry was carrying wood under suspicious circumstances. Mr Raju said that when the SFI activists sought evidence, no papers were produced to prove that the wood was being removed to the knowledge of the authorities as the trees in the premises were auctioned after the bids were invited. .

The lorry was stopped from taking the wood outside the premises. Principal Matthew George said he informed the City Central Police about the development. He said he was not initially aware of the developments and that the issue would be looked into closely on Monday. He said a tree that had grown in the neighboring Kerala Water Authority complex was cut down more than a year ago.

The SFI president said the students had demanded that the authorities cut down trees which pose a serious threat to those on the campus.
