Bangladesh suffered a 5-run defeat in their hard-fought match against India, and Shakib believes that not playing close enough games was the reason they went off the winning position and lost.

As was the case during the 2016 World Cup match in Bengaluru, where they lost from a winning position, Bangladesh were embroiled here after the rain break and went down by five runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Shakib said after being heartbroken, “We don’t play close enough matches, and therefore, we don’t know how to win those games. Both the 185 and the revised target 151 were acceptable goals. Unfortunately, we didn’t win.” Defeat.”

The straight-talking Bangladesh captain said that a “combination of emotion and lack of experience” tilted the match in India’s favor after a rain interruption, when they went 66 for no loss in seven overs due to Liton Das’s blitzkrieg. was scoring runs.

“It was a combination of emotion and lack of experience. I think 85 runs in nine overs, you’ll take it. Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) had completed its magic. We don’t play very close matches, so we don’t know how to do that.”

Asked if he could have persuaded the umpires to start the game at least 15 minutes late, the captain was complacent in the defeat, leaving the outfield a bit drier than when it resumed.

“Did I have a choice? Do I have the ability to convince the umpires? If we talk about the rain break, yes it was important because we lost momentum, but when the ball is wet, It is easy to score runs.

“It was a bit slippery, and in general, it was suitable for batting rather than bowling. But both teams played in the right spirit.”

Shakib didn’t want to pick one particular moment as a game-changer.

“In a close match, you can pick up a lot of moments (as a turning point). Liton’s run out was crucial. We lost momentum after the rain. But you can’t control the rain. We were close, but weren’t close enough.”

Did he realize that Liton slipped before the run-out and stumbled while going for the second run, leading to his dismissal in the next delivery? Shakib did not want to make any excuse.

“If Litton slips on the grass once while running, the next time, he must show awareness and run across the pitch.”

Two overs, when Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya Nurul Hasan Sohan and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets each, which proved to be very costly, albeit with some strong strikes.

“Most teams should be scoring 52 runs in five overs with eight wickets. We got a little nervous in the middle overs. We lost momentum in the big time two to three overs. If you look at the last two overs, a lot of teams 30. Unfortunately, we couldn’t score,” Shakib lamented.

Losing a close match to India hurts the captain, but he has faith in the current batch’s ability to change results in the times to come.

“Our World Cup games against India are close and exciting, but we are not crossing the boundary. Hopefully we can change the result because these boys have potential.”

Bangladesh will next face Pakistan on Sunday, November 6.
