Shane Nigam on ‘Bermuda’ releasing July 29 and a short film ‘Avedio’ directed by him

“Acting with senior actors like Revathi ma’am ( boothkalam), Manju Cheechi and Amala Akkineni ( c/o Saira Banu) was an experience in itself. They are focused, disciplined and serious towards their work. His approach towards a character is different from the way an actor looks at today. It helps to learn when you work with them,” he feels.

He is believed to be a senior actor and currently belongs to different schools of acting. “You cannot say that one is wrong and the other is right. Each has its pros and cons.”

Shane, who has worked with notable debutant directors like Madhu C Narayanan ( Kumbalangi Nights), B Ajith Kumar ( Ida), Soubin Sahir ( Parv) and veteran Shaji N Karun ( Olu) and Rajeev Ravi ( Kammattipadam)feels that the film’s set becomes an extension of the director’s personality as well. “Rajeev sir (TK Rajeev Kumar) is a friendly and casual person who has good equations with his actors. acting Bermuda It was almost like hanging out with friends. Rajeev sir’s set was very different from Shaji sir’s set. Every director has a different style.”

Does he rehearse for his characters? “I don’t do that. But I take breaks after every film to step out of the role. Before joining a film, I take some time to get used to the character I am playing,” he says Huh.

giving an example of Vela, where he plays a young civil police officer whose first job is to work in a control room, Shane says he had to mentally prepare himself to play the role effectively. “It’s organic. I listened to the way they talk in the control room and practiced a little. They talk in a special way because every word has to be clear, they’re conveying important messages.”

He will soon be seen in a film produced by Sophia Paul and directed by Priyadarshan.

Moving on to his pet project, Shane says during the lockdown, he directed a 26-minute short film video (Somewhere), which he scripted, edited, produced, and filmed. “It is a story set during the lockdown and the actors are all my friends. There is a song in the film and I hope to release it in two months. I wanted to prove to myself that I can do a film and that’s why I made it on a shoe-string budget. I’m not sure how it would go but I’m glad I was able to do it.
