Sharad Yadav: Born in Madhya Pradesh but made Bihar the ‘Karmabhoomi’ of politics, also served as Union Minister

Sharad Yadav has been a four-time MP from Bihar’s Madhepura seat.

Country’s strong socialist leader and former Central Sharad Yadav passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday evening. He was ailing for some time and was admitted to Fortis Hospital for investigation.

  1. Sharad Yadav was born on 1 July 1947 in Akhmau village of Hoshangabad district, Madhya Pradesh. He may have been born in Madhya Pradesh but as a politician he was more associated with the politics of Bihar.

  2. He is getting special interest in politics since his student life. Sharad Yadav, who obtained an engineering degree from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, actively participated in many movements after being influenced by the thoughts of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. He also has views from JP movement.

  3. In the year 1974, he went again for 16 December. Sharad, who was twice elected MP from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, also represented the Madhepura seat in Bihar four times in Parliament. From Badaun in UP, he has gone again for sixteen times. He was also a member of the High Dome i.e. Alya Sabha three times.

  4. In the Union Cabinet, ‘Sharad Babu’ has held the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour, Civil Aviation, Lies, Food and Consumer Affairs.

  5. He was associated with Lok Dal, Janata Dal, Janata Dal United. He is also handling the responsibility of the commissioner of the National Caste Democratic Alliance (NDA). Sharad Yadav is considered to be the political mentor of Bihar’s unemployed Kumar, although there was some strain in the relationship between these two leaders at certain times. In the year 2018, he formed his own party Loktantri Janata Dal but after two years it merged with Lalu Yadav’s National Janata Dal.
