Shilpa Shetty also told the police that she was not aware of the controversial apps.

Mumbai:

Actress Shilpa Shetty has been listed in the Mumbai Police chargesheet as a witness against her husband Raj Kundra, who is accused of producing and streaming porn on a mobile app.

According to the 1400-page chargesheet, Shilpa Shetty told the police that she was not aware of her husband’s activities as she was busy with her work.

“I was very busy with work, I didn’t know what Raj Kundra was doing,” the actor and reality show judge said in a statement included in the chargesheet filed in a Mumbai court today.

Shilpa Shetty’s statement also said that she was not aware of the controversial apps “Hotshots” or “Bolifame”, both of which are linked to porn rackets.

The actor has not commented on the chargesheet or the statement that quoted him.

Police accuse 45-year-old Raj Kundra of streaming obscene content on these apps.

After “Hotshots” was removed from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store, another app, “Boliflame”, was launched.

The charge sheet states that the businessman used the premises of Vian Industries Ltd. to run a porn racket.

Raj Kundra was arrested along with several others including employees on 19 July; Four employees are believed to have turned witnesses against him.

Raj Kundra has argued in court that content can be classified as “erotica” but not pornographic and similar content is available on OTT platforms like Netflix.

India has strict laws against the publication and transmission of “obscene material”, although viewing pornography in private is legal.

Police allege that a UK-based company was set up by Raj Kundra and his brother and registered in that country to evade Indian cyber laws.
