Jerusalem: An al-Jazeera journalist shot dead while covering an Israeli raid in occupied territory Western coast the city of Jenin, the Palestinian Health Ministry said early Wednesday.
it said Shirin Abu AklehoA famous Palestinian reporter for the broadcaster’s Arabic language channel was shot dead and soon died. Another Palestinian journalist working for the Jerusalem-based al-Quds newspaper was injured but is in a stable condition.
The health ministry said the journalists were hit by Israeli firing. The military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Israel The U.S. has carried out almost daily raids in recent weeks in the occupied West Bank amid a series of deadly attacks inside Israel, many of which have been carried out by Palestinians from Jenin and its surroundings. The city, and in particular its refugee camp, has long been known as a militant stronghold.
