Shiv Sena’s ‘bow and arrow’ symbol line: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday passed an interim order barring both the Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde factions from using the party’s name Shiv Sena and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

In its interim order, the Election Commission said in the Andheri East bypoll, neither of the two factions – Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde – would be allowed to use the “bow and arrow” symbol reserved for the “Shiv Sena”.

The Election Commission said that both the groups will be allotted such different symbols as they can choose from from the list of free symbols notified by the Election Commission for the ongoing by-elections. Accordingly, both the groups are hereby directed to submit the same by 1 PM on 10th October.

The Commission may allot name and symbol to both the groups from the options presented.

This interim order came on Saturday on the request of Shinde faction, which had demanded allotment of symbol near the Andheri East assembly by-poll.
