‘Shivakumar takes bribe, is of no use’: Viral video of Congress leaders making Karnataka unit red-faced

The Karnataka Congress turned red after its senior leader and two of its leaders were found criticizing state unit president DK Shivakumar in a video that surfaced on Wednesday.

In the clip that is going viral on social media, former Lok Sabha MP VS Ugrappa and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee’s media coordinator Salim Ahmed can be heard talking about a “scam” involving Shivakumar. According to the India Today report, both the leaders allege that Shivakumar and his associates take bribe.

“It was six to eight per cent earlier and then it became 10 to 12 per cent. It’s all ‘DK adjustment’. Mulgund (close to Shivakumar) has made a profit of Rs 50-100 crore. If Mulgund has that much, one can only imagine how much DK has,” Salim Ahmed can be heard saying in the clip.

News18 cannot independently verify the content of the video.

Both the leaders can also be heard saying that Shivakumar has nothing to do with the Congress and that he drinks a lot.

“We all fought hard to make DK the president. But they hurt us and the party,” says Ugrappa.

He further claims that Shivakumar stammers while speaking and gets intoxicated because of it. “He chuckles while talking. I don’t know if his BP is low or he is an alcoholic. That’s what we discussed, media also asked if he was drinking then but he didn’t. Siddaramaiah’s body language is Kadak (smart) ),” Ahmed says in the video.

The video came to light after Income Tax officials raided an image and political advisory firm in Bengaluru that counts Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar as a client.

The firm, DesignBoxed, has been handling Shivakumar’s strategy and image for the past six months. It has also been involved in Congress campaigns in Assam and Chhattisgarh.
