Shoojit Sircar Production ‘Deep 6’ premieres at 26th Busan International Film Festival

Directed by Madhuja Mukherjee, the film stars Tillotama Shome and Chandan Roy Sanyal.

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s production “Deep 6”, featuring actors Tillotama Shome and Chandan Roy Sanyal, will have its world premiere at the 26th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

The film will be screened under the section ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’, which presents a wide range of themes and genres and includes new and extraordinary films by Asian cine-artists, a release from the makers read.

Directed by Madhuja Mukherjee, the film is produced by Ronnie Lahiri, Avik Mukhopadhyay and EditFX Studios of Sarkar and Rising Sun Pvt Ltd.

“Deep6” 2011 is set in Kolkata and also stars Sumeet Thakur, Maya Ghosh, Sumant Mukherjee and Soumitra Chatterjee, who play a posthumous role in the film.

The makers said the iconic Bengali star, who passed away in November last year, will be seen in an “iconic scene – making it one of his last and beguiling performances”.

Sarkar said that he is honored to have ‘Deep6’ premiered globally at the festival.

“I have known Madhuja for many years and it is a privilege to work with her and my close friend Avik Mukhopadhyay in this unique film.

The filmmaker said in a statement, “Ronnie and I have always wanted to develop and present out-of-the-box content, and it was a great experience working together with people who share a similar vision for ‘Deep6’.”

Mukherjee described the film as “a battleground of love, death, despair and desire”.

“It is an extraordinary story of an ordinary woman, Mitul – played with great dynamism by Tillotama Shome – who attempts to transform what appears fossilized. In many Kolkata annals, this is my story, a woman’s point of view. told from.”

“At one level, it is a straightforward narrative about us – women – who shared a political dream and bear older intellectual brothers; on another level, it is increasingly about collective needs, dilemmas, oversights, vulnerabilities and city neighborhoods. The BIFF is scheduled to take place from October 6 to 15.

Filmmaker Aparna Sen’s feature “The Rapist”, starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Arjun Rampal and Tanmay Dhanania, is another Indian film, which will premiere in the segment ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’.

Nominated for the coveted Kim Jacques Award at the Film Gala, the film traces the journey of three heroes and how their lives are twisted due to a horrific incident.

Bangladeshi filmmaker Mustofa Sarwar Farooqui has also been nominated for the Kim Jisok Award for his latest film “No Land’s Man” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The play, which deals with discrimination and hate crimes on the basis of race, religion and nationality, has music by AR Rahman.
