At the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, Indian shooter Avani Lekhar created history by winning a gold medal in the R2 – Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 final. Avani equaled the world record for winning the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 final. The 19-year-old created history by becoming the first woman from India to win a Paralympic gold medal. This is also India’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
