Shooting begins for ‘House of the Dragon’ season 2

Filming on the HBO show is underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, which has released the first photo of the Iron Throne sitting proudly in the Great Hall of the Red Keep, reports Deadline.

Excited about the shoot, Ryan Condle, co-creator/showrunner/executive producer said, “House of the Dragon is back. We’re reunited with our original family members on both sides of the camera, as well as new talent.” Excited to be shooting. All your favorite characters will soon be plotting at council tables, marching with their armies and riding their dragons into battle.

Season 2 cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabian Frankel, Evan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.

Additional returning cast members include Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Fia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.

There is no release date for the second season, but the show is likely to return in 2024.

According to HBO, the first season averaged at least 29 million viewers per episode – more than all but the final two seasons of Game of Thrones.
