Show percentage on jobs, education, health: Priyanka on Adityanath’s ’80 vs 20′ remark

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday said that instead of talking about the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections as an “80 vs 20” fight, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the ruling BJP should present employment, health and education figures in the state. He also hit out at the Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for not showing any accountability to the people on development issues and following the line of caste-based politics.

While interacting with a group of Noida residents while campaigning for Congress candidate Pankhuri Pathak’s support, Priyanka Gandhi cited the example of Chhattisgarh, where her party is in power. Home buyers’ issues, including pending registries and delivery of flats, dominated the talks. Referring to his conversation with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress leader told the residents of Noida that any chief minister would know about the problems of the people of the state.

“He (Baghel) told us that if there is a group of traders, he will have to meet them and address their concerns. But this does not happen in Uttar Pradesh because they do politics of caste and religion. They have no accountability and hence, all of you are being ignored. The talks (about caste and communal issues) they are giving, only political parties are benefiting.”

The Congress leader stressed that there is a need to talk about jobs, education, health care and women’s safety. “They talk about 80 per cent versus 20 per cent. We say, talk about the percentage of youth who do not have a job, talk about education, what percentage of the budget will you spend in education, healthcare. Tell people about the money spent during the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi said that it is the responsibility of the people to change this pattern of politics. Voting is to be held on February 10 in the first round of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held in seven phases in Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
