Shraddha murder case: Delhi court may pronounce order on framing of charges against Aftab Poonawalla today

Shraddha Walker Murder Case: In the latest update on the Shraddha Walker murder case, a Delhi court is likely to pronounce its order on framing of charges against accused Aftab Poonawalla on Saturday (April 29).

Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar, after reserving orders on framing of charges, fixed April 29 for pronouncing its verdict. Besides this, the Delhi Police is also about to file a reply to Shraddha’s father, Vikas Walker, seeking release of his daughter’s mortal remains to perform the last rites.

During the last hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad had said that the police would file a reply on the application on the next date of hearing. The Delhi Police had earlier told the court that the aggravating circumstances are clearly brought out by credible and cogent evidence and they constitute a chain of events.

Shraddha’s father demands hanging of Aftab

Meanwhile, Shraddha’s father has also demanded that the case be fast-tracked and Aftab hanged instead of waiting for several years like in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. Vikas Walker said, “As I know, the statements of his parents have not been recorded in this case and I do not know where they are. They should be brought forward and interrogated.”

According to sources, the Delhi Police has drafted a 3,000-page charge sheet listing 100 witnesses in the heinous murder case. The charge sheet contains a list of forensic evidence that the police collected apart from the DNA report that established the identity of the victim.

According to the charge sheet filed in the case, Aftab is alleged to have chopped Shraddha’s body into 35 pieces before disposing of it at various places over a period of 18 days in May-June 2022. He kept the body in a 300-litre fridge for about three days. several weeks at his home in Mehrauli before dumping him in the national capital.
