A Delhi court on May 9 framed murder charges against Aftab Poonawalla, who is accused of strangling his live-in partner Shraddha Walker and cutting her body into 35 pieces.

Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar said prima facie a case was made out against the accused under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing evidence of offence) of the IPC.

Poonawalla, however, denied the allegations and demanded a trial. The matter has been posted for further proceedings on June 1.

The Delhi Police had filed a 6,629-page charge sheet in the case on January 24.

Poonawalla had allegedly strangulated Walker on May 18 last year, after which he cut her body into pieces and kept it in a refrigerator for about three weeks at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli.

To avoid being caught, he scattered the pieces at different places in the national capital.
